Colour Totem, Formland

Commissioned by Formland AW 2025, Colour Totem was developed as the fair’s central colour installation.

Inspired by the totem as a symbolic form, the project translated colour into a series of sculptural compositions built from simple geometric volumes. Three installations were created using the same colour palette, while variations in proportion, balance, and placement generated distinctly different atmospheres and visual expressions.

Constructed entirely from existing plinths reused from previous fairs and framed by translucent Kvadrat textiles, the installations explored colour as more than a surface treatment. Through shifting views, layered transparency, and changing colour relationships, Colour Totem demonstrated how colour can define space, influence perception, and shape the experience of a place.

Designed as both a landmark and a source of inspiration within the fair, the project invited visitors to engage with colour as a spatial and emotional tool.
